Cusco Front Strut Bar :: Subaru Impreza RB5 Owners Club
Again, another complaint with the Impreza is it's characteristic understeer. This is designed into the car as it's a much safer setup for the average driver. I'm not saying that I'm an above average driver, but I know what I hate and it's understeer.
So, to try to stiffen up the cars front end and minimise some of the understeer I fitted a Cusco strut bar.
This was a very easy mod to install which just need 6 screws to be undone on top of the front struts. Once the bar is bolted in-place, it is adjusted (stiffened) using the nut in the centre of the bar.
The difference was more noticeable on slow corners (especially roundabouts), where the car felt much more pointy when turning into a corner. Gone was some of the tendency for the front end to wash-out with the dreaded understeer.
